Overview:
Archive of Concept Art is a curated zine showcasing early concept artwork from iconic cartoon shows like Scooby Doo, Tom and Jerry, Felix the Cat, and Mickey Mouse. Featuring original sketches and designs credited to their animators and creators, the project celebrates animation history and visual storytelling from its earliest stages.
Challenge:
When making the covers, the goal was to make a cover that captures the essence of a classic cartoon style, from the expressive face, usage of curvature, and limited color palette. Many iterations of the covers was scrapped due to not representing the style.
Execution:
Many inspirations was brought in when making the cover such as Mickey Mouse from his profile shot, Cuphead from his head shape, and Felix the Cat from his limited color palette.
